A Perfect Patio for Nathalie

Nathalie wanted us to help her bring her backyard dreams to life. Upon consultation, we learned that, first and foremost, Nathalie wanted an attractive outdoor space for her family and friends to spend time together. She has always enjoyed the outdoors, warm summer evenings, and North Shore sunsets. What better way to draw a crowd for a memorable summer evening?
Nathalie drew inspiration for her patio from modern design. She liked the minimal and modern look achieved by pairing rich brown wood tones with black fittings and hardware.
We agreed that clean lines and linear geometry would help achieve her aesthetic aspirations. We implemented a square-shaped fire pit, which helped draw the eye to the natural focal point of the patio. We discussed stone options, and helped her select the perfect paver stones to complement her siding colour as well as the architectural style of her home.
The stones we used had a wonderful patina and some beautiful, natural tonal variation. Visually they really provide a calm, grounding feeling.
The wooden pergola has a natural airy feel to it, with the height and proportions of the posts producing an expansive feeling. Stretching the architecture in the vertical plane allowed for an extra spacious feel, elevating the overall experience of the patio.
Adding to the allure of the impressive pergola, we added a series of string lights with Edison bulbs, creating a warm nighttime ambience that really brings the space to life.
A paver stone walkway leads the way from the back of the house, creating a seamless and continuous look. On either side, low maintenance plants such as astilbe populate the adjacent flower beds, enhancing visual appeal while avoiding an overly urbanized look.
It brings us joy to know that Nathalie and friends will get to enjoy her patio for years to come!
